After 17 Years of Inactivity: Rehabilitation and Reactivation of 40,000 Tons of Oil Storage Capacity

The Afghanistan Oil and Gas Corporation (AOGC) has commenced the rehabilitation and reactivation of Tank No.

(2) of the Kabul Bank Oil Storage Facility at Hairatan Port.

The facility has a total storage capacity of 60,000 metric tons , of which approximately 20,000 metric tons are currently operational.

As part of the Corporation's rehabilitation program, efforts are underway to restore the remaining 40,000 metric tons of storage capacity and bring the entire facility back into operation.

This section of the storage facility had remained inactive for the past 17 years .

Rehabilitation works are now progressing systematically under the supervision of the Hairatan Port Oil and Gas Directorate.

Upon completion of the project, the full storage capacity of the facility is expected to become operational.

In addition, the necessary railway infrastructure and related facilities have been prepared to facilitate the efficient movement of rail tank wagons to and from the storage facility.

The Afghanistan Oil and Gas Corporation believes that reactivating these storage facilities will significantly strengthen the country's energy infrastructure, enhance strategic oil storage capacity, and improve preparedness to meet domestic fuel demands, particularly during emergency situations.
